How It Operates
Pressing a connected momentary switch activates the solenoid and closes the contacts, allowing current to flow. The circuit remains closed after the switch is released. Activating the momentary switch again opens the contacts and disconnects the circuit.
Common Applications
The solenoid can be used as a remotely controlled battery isolator in dual-battery systems, allowing one battery to be separated from another to help manage unwanted battery drain.
It may also be used as a remote battery disconnect, particularly where installing heavy-gauge battery cables directly to a dashboard or control panel would be impractical. A smaller momentary control switch can instead be positioned conveniently inside the vehicle.
